My Bachelor degree is Art design. Butterfly and Fish is based on the topic "Fish" of one of my undergraduate foundation classes. The requirement was "fish but not real fish". I did not know what I could do, and the only thing that I knew was that I am good at paper cutting, and I could hide the fish into a design of a traditional pattern. It is obvious that there are four symmetrical butterflies in this picture. But, if you look at it carefully, you may find out that one butterfly consists of two fish. In other words, the half of each butterfly is a fish. Butterfly and fish in traditional Chinese paper cutting both have good meanings. Butterfly means double blessing, luck, and happiness. Fish means abundance and surplus.
